About Our School

Webster Elementary is a school dedicated to educating and empowering all learners to excel in our changing world. We believe a rigorous social and academic curriculum, along with meaningful relationships among staff, students, and parents, are the cornerstones for success. Nearly all of our teachers are trained in Responsive Classroom® which is a research based approach to teaching that fosters academic growth by meeting the students’ needs to feel significant, to know they belong, and to have fun.

When the bell rings at 8:40 students are greeted and welcomed by staff as they make their way to classrooms. All classrooms start the day with a Morning Meeting where students practice our core social skills (cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self control), grow as a community of learners, and begin their academic studies for the day.

A practice we have put in place to help learning communities thrive is our "looping cycle". Students going from first to second and third to fourth grades stay with their teacher for two years. This practice allows teachers, students, and parents to maximize the power of partnerships to increase student success.

Our class sizes are some of the smallest in District 622. Because we value the importance of meeting individual students’ needs we value keeping low class sizes and prioritize this with our discretional funds.

At Webster we believe in the "Growth Mindset" and collaborate with our colleagues on an ongoing basis. Our teachers are lifelong learners committed to staying current with best teaching practices. This is reflected with our high level of professional development and a nearly 70% of our teachers holding a Master’s Degree.

Our students are at the center of everything we do. We believe all students can learn and must have an equal opportunity for success. Every student is the responsibility of every staff member at Webster and is held to rigorous standards in order to be prepared for their future endeavors.
